Gathered Clutch - Success!

I absolutely adore this bag! Anna's tutorial for her Gathered Clutch over at Noodleheads is so clear and easy to follow, I think I'm in love!

Ok, so I went a little crazy and made six of these babies, yes SIX! The first was a gift to my sister, she bought the fabric for me, and I decided it would make a cute thank you gift :)

I learned very quickly where I messed up which was very simple to fix the second time around. I had sewn into the zipper cover on the right side, so unfortunately that end didn't pop out the way it should have, but over all, I'm happy with it. I also used fleece interfacing on the outer fabric. I think the soft cushiness gives it a makeup bag kind of feel.

The halfway thru shot, since I forgot to take an after of the inside.

My first clutch! Woohoo! Yipee! I'm so proud, don't mind me.

This is the second clutch that I made, fabric picked and made for my daughter. As you can see, it has plenty of room for all her gadgets.

This Barbie fabric had me at hello! I love it's sophisticated elegance for the young at heart. I made two of these, one for my niece and the second for a friends birthday who has a minor shoe addiction. ;)

This last one I made for another niece and yet another friend. (We all have our birthday within days of each other). I really like this fabric. I had plans to make myself a skirt or maxi dress, since it's a bottom printed fabric, BUT since I bought 10 yards at $2/yd, well, I figured I had some to spare.

The pictures are awful, sorry about that. Cell phone pics do not do them justice! But my battery was not charged on my camera and I couldn't wait a minute longer to post these. I might think twice next time...MIGHT, ha!

Superhero Cape TADA!

This is the tutorial that started all of the sewing madness. Now that little man is a toddler I am anxious to make things for him that are unique and not store bought, because let's face it, that stuff is ridiculously overpriced!

When I came across the Toddler Superhero Cape, I couldn't resist. :) Isn't it so precious?

I got all of my supplies:

1 yard of red cotton fabric
1 yard of black cotton fabric
1 felt sheet of each black & red
2 felt sheets of yellow
velcro
Heat n Bond

and got to work. Not bad eh? Here is the little man himself modeling his newest toy

Batman Superman

Sorry for the fuzzy cell phone photos, I didn't think to use a regular camera.

I also made 3 more. One a wee bit shorter for an 18 mth old cousin, and two that would fit my 4 year old twin nephews as gifts. I made the necks wider and the length much longer for those two.

For my first sewing endeavor I think they turned out pretty good.

'ere go!

As my son loves to say " 'ere go mama!" I'm finally taking the plunge with this blog. This is my first official post and hope that there are many more to come.

I have been teaching myself to sew for a few months now and it's been pretty good so far. I started off with my stepmoms' sewing machine and once the husband saw I was learning fairly quickly, he surprised me with my own. Gotta love that man! We have also recently converted part of our home into an office/craft area for us.

Frankly, eating around piles of fabric at dinner time was not cutting it ha!

I am very new to sewing, so my plan is to see how well I can follow tutorials I find around the web that I am inspired by and show you what I come up with, whether it's an exact replica or has an NTI twist to it ;)

I do NOT plan to sell anything I replicate from a tutorial unless the original creator has allowed it. No means no, and it's not cool to rip someone else's idea off. Give credit where credit is due I say.

If and that's a BIG IF (heehee) I ever get good enough to sell anything it'll be my own original creation or with permission. At this point I can't even imagine anyone paying me for anything I've made so far.

Anyway, I want this to be fun, so Enjoy!
